Microsoft Announces Dynamics CRM 2011

7/27/2010 9:51:52 AM

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, previously codenamed CRM5, will be publicly available via beta release in September, according to an announcement at the Microsoft World Wide Partner Conference on July 12. The beta program will officially start with Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online.
“Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 will further deliver ‘The Power of Productivity’ through familiar, intelligent and connected experiences for customers and partners,” said Brad Wilson, general manager of Microsoft Dynamics CRM. “For customers, it offers new levels of user productivity and collaboration that meet their specific business needs with a low total cost of ownership. For partners, it unlocks new opportunities and provides a single development environment for cloud-based and on-premise deployments. Together, this new release raises the bar in the CRM market.”
In this new release, Microsoft looks to extend the user experience by leveraging familiarity with their office productivity tools. CRM 2011 extends its native Outlook functionality including previews and conditional formatting and expands the ribbon concept to both Outlook and browser client to provide a more consistent user experience. Additional changes allow for role-based forms and views and advanced user personalization to allow users faster access to relevant data.
Visualizations have been improved in CRM 2011 with inline charts with drill down intelligence and real-time dashboards. Microsoft has also implemented flexible goal management, allowing users to define key performance and business health indicators and track progress against these measures. Another key performance enhancement is the ability for a business to provide step-by-step guidance with the new “guided process dialogs”.
